‘Last year we weren’t the best…’ – Barcelona star sends message to club’s fans | OneFootball

Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong has sent a message the way of the club’s supporters, in an effort to temper expectations.

This of course comes fresh off a disapponting evening’s work for the Blaugrana on Wednesday.

After making the trip to Belgium to lock horns with Club Brugge in a Champions League clash, Hansi Flick’s troops were forced to make do with a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw.

The performance put forth by the Spanish champions has since sparked widespread cricitism, amid what has been a shaky recent stretch of form all told.

Drawn on Barcelona’s current form during a post-match interview, the aforementioned Frenkie de Jong therefore felt it the right time to send a clear message to the club’s fanbase:

“Last year we weren’t the best team in Europe either and we also conceded too many goals… Not everything comes down to that. If you concede 3 goals it’s very hard to win.”

Stretching back to the beginning of last month, Barcelona have now managed wins in just three of their last seven fixtures across all competitions.
