Lautaro Díaz ends Santos deal, poised for Racing loan with three million dollar option | OneFootball

Lautaro Díaz has terminated his Santos contract and is expected to join Racing on loan.

Diario Do Peixe reports the break was finalised on Thursday night. BID registration is due in the coming days, and he will travel to complete a loan with a three million dollar option.

He trained at CT Rei Pelé this week and featured in a 0-0 practice match against Osasco Sporting only hours before the split.

Díaz has been on loan from Cruzeiro until the end of this month. Racing are coached by Juan Pablo Vojvoda, dismissed by Santos in March, and he requested the signing after working with Díaz. Cruzeiro were receptive.

Santos are not expected to receive a fee unless Racing buy him outright, and a showcase clause could apply. Head coach Cuca initially resisted the exit, then agreed to release the player.

This year he has one goal in 19 games, split across seven in the Paulista, eight in the league with a goal against Flamengo, and four in the Sudamericana. Last season he logged three goals and two assists in 15 league matches, leaving with four goals and two assists in 34 outings. He is 28 and from Buenos Aires.
