Lautaro Martinez admits that getting his 150th goal for Inter Milan against Bayern Munich was “worth more” because of the circumstances.
The Nerazzurri captain spoke to InterTV, via FCInterNews, after yesterday’s Champions League quarterfinal second leg thriller.
Lautaro Martinez popped up with a goal yet again for Inter in the Champions League.
The Argentine has now scored in five straight matches in the competition for the Nerazzurri.
And if anything, this was the most important of the lot. And certainly up there with the biggest goals Martinez has scored for Inter in the competition – or in general.
Martinez’s strike was not as impressive as his spectacular outside-of-the-boot effort in the first leg against Bayern.
But the 27-year-old quick thinking and clinical finish from a corner were absolutely vital as Inter reestablished their foothold in the tie.

After yesterday’s match, Inter captain Lautaro Martinez commented that “every goal is special.”
“Because this is what I work for,” he went on.
“And then today it was certainly even more beautiful. Because it helped the team, to keep in the match.”
Martinez noted that “[Bayern] had taken the lead, and it was important to react immediately.”
“Inter have grown a lot over the last few years,” continued the Nerazzurri captain.
“We’ve won trophies. We’ve reached a Champions League final in which no one believed in us. And now we’re doing it again.”
“We won’t give up even if the fixture list is tight,” said Martinez. “And we want to win everything.”
“That’s our mentality. We want to take Inter to the top.”
Meanwhile, Lautaro Martinez called yesterday’s victory “an important evening for us, for Inter.”
“We’re among the four best teams in Europe once again. And for us, that represents a lot of pride and satisfaction.”
“We’re happy with the two matches that we played against a top side,” Martinez went on. “But we have to keep going like this.”
And the Nerazzurri captain also noted that “I didn’t think twice about shooting” on his goal.
“Fortunately it went in, despite having a foot in front of it.”
