Lazio head coach Maurizio Sarri is reportedly an admirer of rising Cesena attacking midfielder Tommaso Berti.
The Biancocelesti should soon lift the transfer ban that prevented them from signing new players in the summer, and resume transfer activity as normal. However, their ordeal is far from over, especially with the newly implemented rules lowering the spending-to-cost ratio from 80% to 70%.
In recent days, a so-called ‘Save Italy’ initiative has begun to take shape, which is a suggested rule that aims to encourage Serie A sides to invest in young Italian players by exempting their transfer fees and salaries from the clubs’ extended labor cost.

As things stand at the moment, Lazio would hardly benefit from this regulation due to the lack of Italian players under the age of 23 in their first team. Therefore, Il Messaggero believes that the hierarchy could intend to change that by targeting potential Azzurri future stars.
While the Aquile’s interest in Bologna’s Giovanni Fabbian is well-documented at this stage, the source reveals that Sarri is also a fan of Berti, a 21-year-old Cesena youth product who has been making a name for himself in Serie B.
This season, the Cesena native has made 14 appearances thus far, contributing with a goal and four assists. He also has two caps with Italy U21. While he primarily plays as an attacking midfielder due to his impressive technical skills and ability to cause havoc between the opposition’s defensive lines, the youngster can also operate in a deeper role if required.
