Lazio are expected to part ways with Matteo Cancellieri and bring in Frosinone standout Fares Ghedjemis as his replacement.

The Biancocelesti are expected to keep Gustav Isaksen, a profile admired by Gennaro Gattuso. The Danish winger should thus be Lazio’s first-choice right winger, but the squad will be an alternative option. Last season, Isaksen competed with Cancellieri for a starting role, but the latter is on the transfer list and has already been linked with Olympiacos, Fiorentina, and Torino.

Lazio Interested in Fares Ghedjemis

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the Aquile have enquired about Ghedjemis, who was one of the finest players in Serie B last term. The French-Algerian played a pivotal role in Frosinone’s promotion to the top flight, contributing with 15 goals and three assists in 37 league appearances, helping the club finish second in the table.

The pink newspaper claims the Canari have placed a €10 price tag, a figure Lazio deem excessive. Nevertheless, Angelo Fabiani and Co. are considering a move, but they’re eyeing more favorable terms.

Ghedjemis’ Career Path & Favorite Role

Ghedjemis started his career at Troyes and then had spells at Le Havre, Evreux, Vannes, and Rouen before signing for Frosinone in January 2024 for a reported €300,000 transfer fee. His contract with the club is valid until June 2028. The 23-year-old is left-footed, so he primarily plays as an inverted right winger, but he can feature on the opposite flank or as an attacking midfielder.
