Vedat Muriqi Failed to Prove His Worth at Lazio

The Biancocelesti bought the imposing striker from Fenerbahce in the summer of 2020 for €22 million. However, the Kosvar wasn’t able to break into the manager’s rotation, whether under Simone Inzaghi or Maurizio Sarri. In his 18 months in the Italian capital, he was a mere backup for Ciro Immobile, and only managed to score two goals and two assists in 49 appearances.

In January 2022, Muriqi signed for Mallorca on loan, before sealing a permanent switch at the end of the season. The Aquile received a transfer fee of €8 million, while retaining a sell-on fee of 45% on a future resale.

Muriqi Has Been Revitalized in Spain

During his time in Spain, the centre-forward managed to reignite his playing career and find his clinical touch once more. This season, he finished second in LaLiga’s goalscoring charts with 23 goals, only two behind Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe.

The 32-year-old effectively scored half of Mallorca’s league goals (47), but it wasn’t enough to salvage the club, which suffered a final-day relegation, as they finished 18th in the table.

Mallorca Ready to Sell Muriqi for €20m

According to Il Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Mallorca’s relegation will most likely push Muriqi out of the Spanish club, and a return to Turkiye could be on the cards, with several suitors vying for his services. Los Bermellones have set their asking price at €20 million, but they have to settle for a lower figure.
