Lazio are still interested in Vasco da Gama winger Andres Gomez, whom they had already pursued during the January transfer window.

The Background

The 23-year-old is a Colombian international who started his career at Millionarios and was then poached by Salt Lake in January 2023. Following his MLS experience, he made the move to Europe through the gates of Stade Rennais, who paid €10 million to secure his services in the summer of 2024.

Gomez failed to find his breakthrough at the French club, so last summer, he completed a loan switch to Vasco da Gama, who have recently decided to exercise their option to buy the player. The Brazilian club have the winger under contract until January 2031.

Lazio Still Keeping Tabs on Andres Gomez

According to Il Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the Biancocelesti had tried to sign the Colombian in recent weeks, but they couldn’t make room for him in the squad. Lazio negotiated Matteo Cancellieri’s sale with Brentford, while Tijjani Noslin also had several suitors, but both players ended up staying at Formello.

But while they failed to pull off a deal in the winter, the Italian capital side has reportedly maintained contact with the player’s entourage, and they’re expected to try again in the summer. Vasco da Gama could be willing to part ways with the player as long as they can register a swift windfall. The Brazilian club paid €4.5 million to acquire the Colombian.

Gomez Stats & Attributes

Gomez is a right-footed player who can play either as a classic winger on the right side or as an inverted left winger. This season, he contributed with a goal and two assists in 10 appearances.

But while his stats are modest, he has been commended for his neat dribbling. As the source reveals, no player has completed more successful dribbles than him in the Campeonato Carioca (The Rio de Janeiro League).
