Lazio and Napoli are working on a swap involving Mario Gila and Lorenzo Lucca, a move that could advance with all parties pushing in the same direction. According to The Laziali, talks have centred on reducing the cash element by adding Lucca to the package.
The Spanish centre-back is apparently heading for the exit despite a contract running to June 2027, after an extension attempt was swiftly rejected by his entourage. President Claudio Lotito first set a €30 million asking price, then softened his stance with the club operating a net-zero market.
Napoli have emerged as favourites in recent weeks and are willing to include a player to cut the fee. A like-for-like option such as Rafa Marin was floated, yet Lucca is viewed as the most concrete candidate, with Gennaro Gattuso seeking a new striker.
The 25-year-old joined Napoli last summer from Udinese for €35 million. He struggled for minutes at the Stadio Maradona, with Antonio Conte preferring Rasmus Hojlund, then spent the second half of the season on loan at Nottingham Forest, scoring one goal.
Lazio’s current proposal is €20 million plus Lucca on loan for next season, alongside an option to buy. Real Madrid are due 50% of any profit registered by the Aquile on Gila’s sale. It remains unclear whether Napoli will accept these terms.
