Regis Le Bris revealed that Bertrand Traore is expected to be out for six to eight weeks, but Brian Brobbey and Dennis Cirkin are both back in contention to play at the weekend.
Bertrand Traore was substituted just 7 minutes after coming on in Sunderland’s win over Leeds with an injury, in just his second match since coming back from a long-term knee injury.
Brian Brobbey has missed the last two with a groin injury and Dennis Cirkin has missed the last three.
Goalkeeper Robin Roefs missed the win over Leeds with a hamstring injury, Nordi Mukiele also missed the clash with a calf issue. Reinildo has also been out after suffering a knee injury.
Le Bris gave updates on all of their fitness ahead of Sunderland’s match against Brighton this weekend.
“Brian Brobbey and Dennis Cirkin have both trained all week. Let’s see how they are tomorrow. This weekend will come too soon for Robin Roefs, Nordi Mukiele and Reinildo. After seeking many opinions, we’re expecting Bertrand to be out six to eight weeks.”
Sunderland lost to Port Vale 1-0 in the FA Cup last weekend, Le Bris emphasised the need to bounce back.
“It’s now time to find consistency and show the levels we displayed at Bournemouth and Leeds. We know we’re capable of it.
“This weekend is a good opportunity to show our core strengths.”
