Things are tight in League One and the January transfer window offers a chance to strengthen. Here's the latest transfer news from the third tier.
Things are tight in League One as the 2025-26 season passes its mid-point and the January transfer window offers clubs a chance to strengthen for the second half, so here's a round-up of the latest transfer news from the third tier.
With five points separating the top three and just nine points separating 4th-placed Huddersfield Town from 16th-placed Plymouth Argyle, there's no question that League One is tight this season.
We're now past the halfway point of the season, and with just over twenty games of the regular season to play there remain plenty of opportunities for clubs who can hit better form throughout its second half.
The January transfer window offers clubs an opportunity to make their final tweaks ahead of a busy few months, and there has been a lot of movement in its first week in League One. So here's a round-up of the latest transfer news from across the third tier.

Two unnamed League One clubs are reported to have expressed an interest in the Hearts goalkeeper Zander Clark.
The Edinburgh Evening News have reported that the Scotland international, who has made 63 appearances for the Tynecastle club since joining them from St Johnstone in 2022, has slipped down the pecking order to third choice behind Alexander Schwolow and Craig Gordon with the surprise SPFL league leaders.
Clark is highly experienced. He ran up more than 200 appearances for St Johnstone over ten years with the club, also having spells on loan with Elgin City and Queen of the South. He's also made four appearances for the Scotland national team, and was in their squad for Euro 2024.
At 33 years of age, Clark might not necessarily be a long-term solution for anybody. But he hasn't even been able to get on the bench at Hearts since Craig Gordon returned from injury in October, and may be interested in more regular football south of the border.

When Lasse Nordås signed for Luton Town at the end of the January transfer window last year, he was considered an investment for the future, at a cost of £2.8 million. The young Norwegian striker had impressed in his home country and was believed to have potential to spare.
Less than a year on, things have not turned out as the Hatters would have hoped. Nordås has only scored once in 21 League appearances for the club in the Championship and League One, and Luton have now made the decision to loan him to the Dutch club SC Heerenven for the remainder of the season.
With reports that Nordås' signature was among the highest in Luton's history, the club will not want to let him go completely at a financial loss, so moving the player elsewhere could allow him to get some more game-time at a good level - Heerenveen are an Eredivisie club - and see where everybody stands come the end of the season.

Wycombe Wanderers are on the verge of taking former loanee Cameron Humphreys back to Adams Park from Ipswich Town.
The Bucks Free Press have reported that the 22-year-old midfielder is wanted by the Chairboys following George Abbott’s return to Tottenham Hotspur and injuries to Josh Scowen and Ewan Henderson.
Humphreys is a product of the Ipswich academy and has made 25 League appearances for them in League One and the Championship. He spent the 2024-25 season on loan at Adams Park, making 42 appearances and scoring 7 goals, and ended the season as their Young Player of the Year.
He returned to Portman Road in the summer, but has only managed ten minutes of game-time from the bench for Ipswich over the first half of the season.
It is unclear whether the Chairboys are looking to take the player on loan again or whether they're looking to make him a permanent signing this time around, but he's set to add depth in a much-needed area of the park.

Daniel Bennie, who's impressed this season in Championship club Queens Park Rangers' development squad over the first half of this season, has been reported as being of interest to "a host of League One clubs".
Football Insider's Pete O'Rourke has reported on the social media platform X that the 19-year-old Australian under-20 international is attracting attention from a number of clubs.
He's only made one appearance in the Queens Park Rangers first-team this season, in their 3-2 defeat at Plymouth Argyle in the Carabao Cup in August, and scored one of their goals. He made 12 appearances for them in the Championship throughout the 2024-25 season.
Bennie is highly-rated, having scored five times in 14 appearances for the Australia under-20 team. Moving to a League One club - Wycombe Wanderers are again reported to be interested
