Leandro Barreiro could feature for Benfica against Nacional after recovering from a muscle problem suffered on international duty, Record writes. The No 18 is back in contention for José Mourinho.

The midfielder missed the draw with Casa Pia because of a muscle complaint. With Mourinho’s future still undecided, the Benfica coach may now have him available for the Nacional fixture.

Barreiro’s absence forced Mourinho to pair Richard Ríos with Enzo Barrenechea, a combination that was not to the Portuguese’s liking, the report said.

Fredrik Aursnes remains sidelined as he continues his recovery from a muscle injury. The 63-year-old therefore regains an important option in a midfield where Barreiro has impressed in recent months.

This season Barreiro, valued at €15 million, has played 44 competitive matches for Benfica, 25 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 13 in the Champions League, three in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. Across 2,491 minutes he has four goals and five assists.
