Leeds to sell Isaac Schmidt to Young Boys for about £two million

Leeds United are selling Isaac Schmidt to Young Boys for about £two million, with the move due to be completed today, according to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk.

The full-back’s two-year spell at Elland Road is ending. He arrived from FC St Gallen in 2024 in a £two and a half million deal.

Schmidt did not convince Daniel Farke he could operate at full-back in the Championship title-winning side, and was used mainly as an attacker in brief cameos from the bench.

He spent last season on loan in the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen, but that stint did not lead to a permanent transfer.

Young Boys have won the race to take him back to Switzerland, with an announcement expected imminently.

The price covers his book value, meaning Leeds will avoid recording a loss on the player.
