Leeds United made a solid Premier League return, smart recruitment reinforcing a Championship-winning core, and the season’s ratings reflect that.

Ratings are subjective yet enduringly popular. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the averages still sketch who stood out most often.

Once averaged, the picture broadly matched end-of-season shortlists. There was a Leeds United three-way tie for first, settled by decimals, and the leader collected all the awards.

The 2025 intake proved crucial, several arrivals settling fast in the toughest league. The refs were marked at five, spanning Darren England’s nine against Chelsea to Jarred Gillett’s minus one at Spurs, and standards must rise, with VAR not helping.

Facundo Buonanotte, four, arrived on a January loan that promised plenty but delivered little. He produced a couple of poor cameos and was dreadful against Birmingham, and in the end Leeds did not need him to stay up. Only Daniel Farke, Buonanotte and a few at Thorp Arch can explain why.

Sam Byram, five, played twice in the league and twice in the FA Cup, his cameos too brief to rate. His only mark was a five in a Carabao Cup start.

Joel Piroe, five point seven, struggled for minutes and incision, ending with a rare one-goal season that will likely not be repeated.

Dan James, five point eight, suffered injuries, logging 629 minutes and no goals or assists.

Jack Harrison, five point nine, was mostly used from the bench or in a more defensive brief and could not spark. Leeds sanctioned a January loan to Fiorentina for gametime.
