Leeds United are reportedly close to selling Pascal Struijk to Brighton for £20m after a verbal agreement was reached.

The Athletic reports that the defender would swap Elland Road for the Amex, with Brighton set to play in the UEFA Conference League next season.

With his deal up at the end of next season, the 49ers Enterprises-owned club have chosen to cash in now to avoid a free exit, the report said.

There had been uncertainty over whether the 26-year-old would sign a new contract. He appears set to depart after eight-and-a-half years, having made 196 appearances in all competitions.

Leeds are yet to make their first signing of the summer and could move for a centre-back once Struijk’s exit is confirmed.

He played 37 times last season, including 34 in the Premier League, so United must replace significant minutes.

Leeds are said to be close to a move for Wales international Harry Wilson, who is set to become a free agent when his Fulham contract expires at the end of this month.
