Leeds United and Sheffield United are monitoring Bournemouth's Max Aarons, who is currently on loan at Valencia.
Leeds United and Sheffield United are among a host of clubs keen on Bournemouth’s Max Aarons, with the right-back currently on loan at Valencia.
The 25-year-old came through the ranks at Carrow Road, making over 200 appearances for the club, the majority of which came under Whites’ chief Daniel Farke.
However, after departing for Bournemouth in the summer of 2023, Aarons’ career has stalled, as he has struggled for regular football.
Sadly for Aarons, a loan move to Valencia hasn’t really changed things, as he has made just two La Liga appearances for the club since his arrival, which came in a heavy defeat at Barcelona and a surprise win at Real Madrid.
So, he is set to return to Bournemouth in the summer, but another move seems likely, and Football Espana has revealed that Leeds and the Blades are tracking Aarons.
Yet, the update explains that the full-back could still go abroad, as it’s Sevilla who are pushing hardest to sign him at the moment, whilst Lille and Marseille are also in the frame to land the player.
They add that a loan move is still a possibility, but if Bournemouth sell Aarons they would try to generate a fee of around €12m.
Aarons was very highly-rated when he came through at Norwich, but his career has stalled somewhat over the past few years.
The move to Valencia hasn’t worked out, but the team has been transformed since Carlos Corberan took over, which makes it hard for Aarons to get a look-in.
Nevertheless, at 25, he is still relatively young, and he has a lot to offer, so you can understand why clubs are keen.
Obviously, Farke has a history with the player, and the chance to reunite with the German coach may appeal, although it’s hard to say that Aarons will get game time when you consider how good Jayden Bogle has been since his arrival.
Meanwhile, any chance Sheffield United have of signing Aarons would surely depend on promotion, but right-back is an area Chris Wilder may look to strengthen as Harry Clarke and Alfie Gilchrist are only on loan at Bramall Lane.
