Leeds United begin pre-season with Leeds Beckett testing and USA tour plans | OneFootball

Leeds United opened pre-season on July 13, with most of the squad reporting to Leeds Beckett University for the first round of testing this morning.

According to Leeds Live, assessments at Leeds Beckett’s Health and Performance Hub include body scans and composition measurements that are not carried out at Thorp Arch.

Those who played at the World Cup, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Ao Tanaka, Brenden Aaronson and Noah Okofor, will link up later and some could miss the entire USA tour.

The squad return to the training ground on Tuesday for physical testing, including the bleep test, with full training resuming from Wednesday.

Early data establishes fitness baselines and informs load and recovery, allowing tailored programmes at the outset of camp.

Players back in, including new signing Harry Wilson, are due to fly to the USA on Tuesday, July 21 before facing Wrexham at Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, Florida on July 25.

Leeds then move to a New Jersey base ahead of Sunderland at Sports Illustrated Stadium on July 30, UK time, and Liverpool in Chicago on August 2.

Back in Europe, United host RB Leipzig at Elland Road on August 8, travel to Dublin to meet Manchester United at Croke Park on Wednesday, August 12, then face FC Augsburg a week later.

The Premier League campaign begins away to Nottingham Forest on August 22 at 3pm.
