Leeds United have confirmed Noah Okafor has been named in Switzerland’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The club said in a statement on Wednesday that the forward received the call-up.

Okafor faced early questions after his £18 million move from AC Milan last summer, with only two league goals in the first half of the season.

He has responded with six Premier League goals and an assist since February, the 25-year-old increasingly justifying that outlay.

The former Red Bull Salzburg forward has 24 caps and is set for his second World Cup, having featured three times in Qatar. Switzerland are in Group B with Qatar, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and joint hosts Canada at this year’s finals in North America.

His standout Leeds display came in last month’s 2-1 win at Old Trafford against Manchester United, when he scored both goals. That showing earned him the club’s Performance of the Year at Tuesday’s awards night.

Okafor is contracted at Elland Road until 2029, and Daniel Farke may feel he has a serious player on his hands. If his form continues, it would not be a surprise if Leeds made a hefty profit on his sale in a year or two.
