Leeds United ‘enter race’ for £34m Muharemović as Sunderland circle | OneFootball

According to Sunderland Echo, Leeds United have joined Sunderland in pursuit of Sassuolo centre-back Tarik Muharemović this summer. Sunderland want another centre-back for Régis Le Bris’ squad.

Sunderland and Bournemouth are understood to have made contact in recent weeks. Juventus hold a 50 per cent sell-on clause, which would give them half of any future fee and could influence any negotiation.

There is no suggestion Sunderland have lodged a formal offer at this stage, though the Black Cats are actively exploring a move for the Bosnia and Herzegovina international.

Newcastle United are also named among the Premier League suitors, taking the total to four clubs.

Sassuolo are understood to value Muharemović at around €40 million, about £34.1 million. Sunderland are said to be preparing to open talks over a €35 million to €40 million deal, roughly £29.8 million to £34.1 million.

He has reportedly been offered a contract to 2031 worth €3.5 million per year plus bonuses, around £3 million annually, approximately £57,000 per week. These figures remain reported rather than confirmed.

Muharemović made 32 appearances for Sassuolo last season, including 31 in Serie A, scoring twice. The left-footed defender is a senior international for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
