Leeds United ‘enter race’ for World Cup centre-back, Juventus call pending, Shea Charles update | OneFootball

Leeds United have targeted Sassuolo and Bosnia and Herzegovina centre-back Tarik Muharemovic after Pascal Struijk joined Brighton in a £20m deal.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Leeds have ‘entered the race’ to sign the 23-year-old, with Bournemouth and Sunderland calling, and Juventus needing to decide due to a 50 per cent sell-on.

Leeds’ interest is understood to be exploratory at this stage.

Muharemovic, six-foot-four, featured at this summer’s World Cup. He played Bosnia and Herzegovina’s 1-1 opener against Canada, then started against Switzerland and was sent off with 10 minutes left. Suspended for the Qatar finale, he returned for the round of 32 against the USA and completed a 2-0 defeat.

Leeds are also pursuing Southampton midfielder Shea Charles, 22. The Mail claims positive talks were held over the weekend and that a decision was close. There is no update on Charles and talks are ongoing.
