According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Leeds United teenager Harry Gray has returned to Thorp Arch for treatment on a hamstring strain suffered while on loan at Rotherham United, shortly after the Millers replaced Matt Hamshaw with Lee Clark.
The 17-year-old had been ever present since his January switch to League One, but he missed the midweek drubbing by Peterborough United. The following day Hamshaw was sacked and Clark was appointed. Gray will not be involved for the first couple of weeks of Clark’s reign as he rehabs with Leeds.
Clark said it is standard for young loanees to receive care at their Premier League parent clubs, with Leeds’ proximity aiding his recovery. He added they are hopeful Gray could be available for the next group of matches after Saturday, which would provide a lift.
Hamshaw rated Gray highly and the promise of regular minutes helped secure the January move. Clark wants the young attacker back as soon as possible and noted injuries have blighted Rotherham’s season. He has settled on Saturday’s personnel and hopes to have players available for the remaining eight games to help finish the job.
Rotherham visit league-leading Lincoln City on Saturday, managed by former Leeds coach Michael Skubala, before hosting Stevenage at New York Stadium. Gray’s problem is thought to be relatively minor and should keep him out for two to three weeks at most.
