Leeds United seized a vital 2-1 win at Manchester United on Monday night, bolstering their Premier League survival hopes and opening daylight to the dropzone.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the result has prompted a major shift in bookmakers’ relegation odds and their projected final table.
Daniel Farke’s side began the weekend four points clear, but West Ham’s 3-0 victory over Wolves on Friday cut the gap to one and pushed Tottenham into the bottom three.
In Roberto De Zerbi’s first match in charge, Spurs then lost 1-0 at Sunderland on Sunday, leaving them two behind fourth-bottom West Ham and three off both Leeds and Nottingham Forest, with Leeds having a game in hand.
Forest drew 1-1 at home to Aston Villa on Sunday, moving level with Leeds on points and trailing only on goal difference.
Leeds, huge underdogs, then delivered a victory that put them six points clear of the dropzone with six matches to play, three ahead of Forest and four ahead of West Ham.
