Leeds United are racing to add before the window shuts at 7pm on Monday, with Facundo Buonanotte joining on loan from Brighton after ending his Chelsea spell.

The 21-year-old has played once in the league for the Blues since September, was unused in the 1-0 win over Fulham, then featured in the 1-1 draw with Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. According to Leeds Live, Daniel Farke knows one loan may not suffice and enquiries are under way.

Leeds sit 16th, just outside the relegation zone, and supporters hope new arrivals can help secure Premier League status at the first attempt.

A bid for Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, 25, has been rejected and it might take a club-record fee, with rivals valuing him at £40million, so talks are finely balanced. With PSR limits effectively reached, a sale before 30 June would be needed to proceed.

Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace also hold interest and stronger PSR positions. Many factors must align, but with Dominic Calvert-Lewein the only fit and firing striker at the club, Leeds may feel compelled to act.

Left-back Gabriel Gudmundsson has an adductor strain. Initial tests suggested three to four weeks out, although a second opinion looked brighter and Farke hopes he misses only one or two games. James Justin impressed as cover.

If Gudmundsson’s situation worsens, Leeds could explore full-back cover. Jack Harrison has joined Fiorentina on loan until the end of the season, leaving the left side light and a short-term option may be considered.
