New drone footage has revealed fresh progress on Leeds United’s Elland Road redevelopment, with work ramping up on the West Stand soon after the 2025/26 season ended. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the wider project includes a plan to lift capacity to 53,000, with completion hoped for by 2030, through North and West Stand upgrades.
A video showed activity under way by late May, and new images as of Tuesday 9 June have provided the latest update. The immediate focus is the West Stand.
Earlier footage captured Portakabins for visiting teams being removed and a partial ticket office demolition. The ticket office has now gone, with further work on the banqueting suite behind the stand.
About a third of the West Stand’s external structure has been taken down, the drone even peering inside. The away fans’ tunnel in the same area has also been demolished.
A temporary structure behind the North Stand is taking shape after work began late in the season. It is expected to house corporate facilities during the expansion.
Inside the ground, the turf appears to have been lifted ahead of pitch preparations. Around the West Stand technical area, dugouts have been removed and a screen erected.
Work on the pitch and dugouts will finish in time for next season, but chairman Paraag Marathe said there will be disruption through 2026/27. He cited a phased approach to avoid sacrificing seats, noted the ticket office has gone, flagged interruptions in the chairman’s area, and asked supporters to bear with them.
