Leeds United winger Noah Okafor has been left out of Switzerland’s friendly against Jordan as he continues to deal with a calf problem. The 26-year-old remains in Murat Yakin’s World Cup squad and the coach is not concerned about his longer-term availability.
The federation announced in a Saturday update that Okafor would not feature in today’s 1.30pm kick-off in St Gallen. Fabian Rieder is also out with an ankle injury, Gregor Kobel will be rested after flu, Yvon Mvogo starts and the plan is for Marvin Keller to come on at half-time for a debut.
Okafor earned a recall for March’s internationals after strong Leeds form, was an unused substitute in the 4-3 defeat to Germany, then missed the matchday squad for the goalless draw in Norway.
He finished the club season brightly before a calf injury ruled him out of Leeds’ final three Premier League matches.
Switzerland also face Austria next week as they continue preparations for this summer’s World Cup.
