Ruben Amorim’s side could leapfrog Liverpool in the Premier League table with victory at Elland Road
Manchester United play bitter rivals Leeds in their first game of 2026.
Ruben Amorim’s side could finish the weekend in the top four with a win at Elland Road as they look to bounce back from a disappointing draw at home rock-bottom Wolves last time out.
Man Utd were beaten in their last away game before Christmas, though the 2-1 loss to Aston Villa is their only defeat on the road since September.
Leeds are now unbeaten in six games after securing a credible goalless draw away at Liverpool on New Year’s Day, though they have had less recovery time than the Red Devils.
Here’s everything you need to know about the game…
Leeds vs Manchester United is scheduled for a 12.30pm GMT kick-off on Sunday, January 4, 2026.
The match will take place at Elland Road.
TV channel: In the UK, the game will be televised live on TNT Sports. Coverage starts at 11am GMT on TNT Sports 1 ahead of kick-off at 12.30pm.
Live stream: TNT Sports subscribers can also catch the contest live online via the Discovery+ app and website.
Live blog: You can follow all the action on matchday via Standard Sport’s live blog!
Free highlights: The Sky Sports app and YouTube channel will show highlights from 5.15pm GMT with Match of the Day broadcasting on BBC One at 10.30pm.
Leeds will be without captain Ethan Ampadu through suspension as the midfielder picked up his fifth yellow card of the season at Anfield.
Sebastiaan Bornauw limped off late on in the goalless draw, so his involvement at the weekend is in doubt but Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor are expected to return to the starting lineup.
For Man United, Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui are all away at the Africa Cup of Nations, while Harry Maguire, Matthijs de Ligt and Bruno Fernandes are all out injured.
Mason Mount will be assessed after being forced off in the Newcastle win and then missing the draw against Wolves.
Kobbie Mainoo has a chance of making the matchday squad after sitting out the last three games with a calf injury. If fit, it remains to be seen if he starts ahead of Manuel Ugarte or Casemiro.

Facing Liverpool and Man United in the space of three days is going to be a massive ask of Leeds. Having fewer days to recover could prove to be the determining factor, even if Amorim is without several key players.
We expect an entertaining back and forth battle at Elland Road with both sides forced to settle for a share of the spoils.
2-2, draw.
Man United, unsurprisingly, have dominated this fixture down the years and are unbeaten against their rivals in seven meetings. Leeds have not beaten the Red Devils at home since September 2002 when Harry Kewell netted the winning goal.
