Former AC Milan manager Arrigo Sacchi has offered his verdict on Cristian Chivu’s managerial start at Inter Milan.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInter1908, Sacchi assessed Inter’s performances in the UEFA Champions League and Serie A.
Inter are leading the way in the domestic championship after winning 12 of their last 14 league games, including a 6-2 rout of Pisa on Friday.
Therefore, they’ve opened up a five-gap gap at the top of the table, leaving second-placed AC Milan with
Furthermore, Cristian Chivu has inspired Inter to their second-best points tally at this stage of the season in the past seven years.
Indeed, the San Siro giants have generated 52 points from the opening 22 games.
Moreover, they’re the only Serie A team to have hit a 50-goal landmark this season.
Meanwhile, their recent performances in the Champions League have sparked debate about Chivu’s European ambitions.
After winning his first four continental games in charge, the 45-year-old has overseen three consecutive defeats.
As a result, Inter are on the verge of missing out on a coveted top-eight finish.

“A nerve-racking night awaits us,” Sacchi said about tonight’s Champions League drama. “Not because of the cold, but because of fear.
“Yes, because this is the final round of the Champions League group stage.
“And the scene I picture is that of a patient sitting in front of a doctor, handing over their test results and anxiously awaiting the verdict.
“Atalanta, Inter, and Juventus are already assured of a place in the playoffs.
“With a bit of luck and some help from elsewhere, they hope to sneak into the list of the magnificent eight.
“Inter, after a sparkling start, have pulled the handbrake – three defeats in their last three outings.
“Granted, they faced Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, and Arsenal.
“However, the Nerazzurri, finalists in last season’s competition, should already be operating at the level of those clubs.
“It seems to me, instead, that in the league they have produced a fine comeback, overtaking their rivals and pulling clear.
“Meanwhile, in Europe, they have fallen a little asleep. In Dortmund, against Borussia, it won’t be a walk in the park.
“But this is the right moment to raise their voice – also to prove they can follow the same path they took in 2025.”
