Legendary former Rossoneri coach Fabio Capello is expecting an unpredictable match as Inter Milan take on AC Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana final.

Capello gave his thoughts ahead of the match to the Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. He also argued that this is “the best Inter under Simone Inzaghi.”

Inter take on AC Milan in the Supercoppa final this evening.

The two sides have met on quite a few occasions in recent years. In addition to the usual Serie A matches, there have been clashes in the Coppa Italia, Supercoppa Italiana, and Champions League.

Inter went on a run of six consecutive victories in the derby. This included winning the Supercoppa, knocking Milan out of the Champions League, and clinching the Serie A title.

However, Milan got some revenge in the last derby. They secured a convincing victory over the Nerazzurri in the first league meeting of this season.

Capello On Inter Vs AC Milan Supercoppa Final: “The Derby Is Always The Derby”

In the view of former Milan, Real Madrid, and England coach Capello, “The derby is always the derby.”

“Then if there’s also a trophy on offer, we can only imagine how emotional this match will be.”

“For this reason, I’d make any prediction with a grain of salt,” Capello said.

“Even if the Inter I saw against Atalanta in the semifinal look to be a level above all other Italian teams, including Milan.”

Capello commented that “I believe the current version is the best Nerazzurri team since Simone Inzaghi’s arrival on the bench.”

He then noted that “Of course, Thuram’s absence will be felt.”

“And that will increase the weight on the shoulders of Lautaro Martinez. Perhaps the only player at Inter not currently having a brilliant moment of form, at least as far as scoring against Atalanta.”

“But in terms of his overall performance, he did his part as always,” Capello said of Martinez.

“But Inzaghi also has other strings in his bow,” he continued. “Did you see what Dumfries and Dimarco did in the semifinal?”

And Capello also observed that “It will be another big test for Conceicao against Inter.”

He argued that the new Milan coach “Must win over his team quickly – but also get to know them quickly.”
