Leicester City have lost centre-backs Caleb Okoli and Ben Nelson for the remainder of the season after both sustained muscle injuries in training this week.
According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, Gary Rowett said Okoli suffered a hamstring issue and Nelson a thigh problem during sessions, and with only four games and three weeks left he does not expect either to feature again.
Okoli was a surprise omission against Swansea, having started every match since Rowett took charge. Jannik Vestergaard stepped in to partner Lascelles, while Nelson was also missing from the squad.
It was Vestergaard’s first start under Rowett, the Dane having only recently returned to fitness over Easter after a hernia operation.
Harry Souttar provided centre-back cover on the bench, the Australia international named in a competitive matchday group for the first time since December 2024 following an Achilles injury on loan at Sheffield United. He has not played a competitive match for City since December 2023, which was more than 840 days ago.
