Leicester City have ‘made an approach’ to sign free agent Lyndon Dykes, according to LeicesterMercury.co.uk. The interest relates to the 2026/27 campaign.

Dykes will be out of contract at Charlton next month after a short-term spell at The Valley. He moved to Nathan Jones’ side in January following limited opportunities at Birmingham City.

The 30-year-old has 10 goals for Scotland and scored three times for Charlton in the run-in, including the second in a 2-0 win at Leicester in late January.

He has been named in Scotland’s World Cup squad and will head to the North America tournament without a club. He is assessing his options amid an offer to extend at Charlton, while Championship rivals Millwall are also keen.

Leicester previously explored a January move for Dykes before he joined Charlton, then chose against signing free agent Michail Antonio.

City want a new centre forward after confirming Patson Daka and Jordan Ayew will leave when their contracts expire. Their exits leave Jake Evans as the only senior out-and-out striker, and recruitment is expected to wait until the club decide who will manage them in League One.

Gary Rowett oversaw the run-in on a short-term deal after replacing Marti Cifuentes, and the club have yet to communicate whether he will stay.
