Andy King will lead Leicester City against Charlton on Saturday at the King Power Stadium, with no new manager in place after the club parted company with Marti Cifuentes following the 2-1 defeat to Oxford United.
The first-team coach has taken training since Cifuentes' exit and will be in the dugout. He oversaw a couple of pre-season games, but this will be his first competitive match, with his coaching career only beginning 18 months ago.
"No, I don't know where that's come from. A club's looking for a manager and these things you take with a pinch of salt. It's clear my focus is here. I'm in a job that I want," said Hearts manager Derek McInnes, speaking to Sky Sports.
Former City full-back Gary Rowett, linked due to his Championship experience, was more guarded. "Well, look, it's a club I played for, it's a fantastic football club."
"Obviously, they're in a little bit of trouble at the moment with potentially a points deduction rumoured to be on the horizon, which would put them in need of a strong end to the season." "So, no, look, I think it's like anything, isn't it? Sometimes there's those links, sometimes there's something in it, sometimes there's not, but I'm quite enjoying this seat, at least for the evening."
Any incoming manager is likely to be out of work so the club stay within PSR restrictions.
