Leicester City have reportedly taken a non-league star on trial. The youngster with a significant opportunity is just a mere 16 years old. Yet the Foxes are always searching high and low for the next major footballing prospect. The east Midlands club look at the world at large, and this starlet's from Europe and is playing in England.
Of course, the King Power club are taking a gamble with a non-professional player in this instance. Some people would prefer the team to be packed with expensive signings. But that isn't going to happen at LCFC any time soon. If you can recall, the best Fox to ever do it was signed from Fleetwood Town Football Club for a relative pittance.
Leicester will now hope to replicate the Jamie Vardy legend with their new trialist Riley Carr. Vardy has won almost everything there is to win domestically, with the League Cup the only trophy evading his fabled grasp. Surely his fairytale can't be duplicated - but you never know! So, who is Carr? What's his sporting profile? And is he likely to become a full-time Fox?
We won't dwell on the current defeatist feeling around the King Power. It is too depressing to wallow in your side's shortcomings and failures. Therefore I'd like to very briefly examine something more positive and constructive.
City are planning for upcoming seasons in advance, which is good to hear. To be honest though, every outfit does this: that's the point of youth teams and Under-21s, which are now kind of like modern reserve groups.
