Leicester City have sent 19-year-old striker Kirsten Otchere on loan to League Two Cheltenham Town for the 2026/27 season. The decision follows a standout pre-season and leaves Russell Martin light at centre forward.

LeicesterMercury.co.uk understands that City remain interested in Olimpija Ljubljana forward Admir Bristrić, who struck 13 in 28 for NK Bravo last season, and that another striker is expected to be sought.

Otchere scored three times in pre-season, sharing duties with Nathan Opoku after the exits of Jordan Ayew and Patson Daka. Bobby De Cordova-Reid started up front against Genoa last weekend.

This is Otchere’s first taste of senior football. Cheltenham, managed by Steve Cotterill, will hope he helps improve on last season’s 18th place in League Two.

There had been suggestions his form could earn him a League One role, but the loan points City back to the market. Elijah Adebayo, on trial at Bristol City, has been linked, while Leyton Orient’s Dom Ballard is admired after 23 goals last season.

Martin has stressed the need to strengthen in attack. Liam Cullen and Tommy Watson have already strengthened the frontline, yet Otchere’s departure heightens the push for reinforcements before the window closes. The report also suggests two forwards could arrive to support Bristrić’s adaptation.
