Bayern Munich have confirmed Lennart Karl has suffered a muscle tear in his right hamstring and will miss Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final second leg against Real Madrid. The club said in a statement that the 18-year-old forward faces an indefinite spell out.
Karl will also be absent for the German Cup semi-final against Leverkusen on 22 April. He is already a doubt for any potential Champions League semi-final first leg on 28 April.
The teenager remained on the bench for Tuesday’s first leg, which Bayern won 2-1 at the Bernabéu. Before that he completed the full match against Freiburg, a 3-2 victory, contributing a goal and an assist.
This season Karl has played seven Champions League games and scored four goals. He is Bayern’s third-highest scorer in the competition, behind Harry Kane on 11 and Luis Diaz on five.
The tie at the Allianz Arena kicks off at 21:00 on Wednesday.
