Racing Club de Lens have urged that their home match against PSG on 11 April remains as scheduled, resisting talk of a postponement. The fixture is set for 17:00 at Bollaert, with PSG due to host Liverpool on 8 April.

The club said in a statement that the date was fixed on 6 March and that, from the first approaches, it made clear to PSG it did not want the slot changed. Lens are currently second in the French top flight.

A recent flurry of public interventions and suggestions prompted the club to break its earlier silence on the matter.

The statement rejects the idea that the league’s 10th budget should adapt to the wishes of the most powerful, citing interests presented as stretching beyond the domestic game. It also notes that the French calendar has already been eased, with Ligue 1 reduced to 18 clubs and the Coupe de la Ligue discontinued.

Lens underlined its attachment to fairness, clear rules and respect for all participants, calling for a loyal and respected French football.
