RC Lens owner Joseph Oughourlian expects the LFP – Ligue de Football Professionnel, Ligue 1’s governing body – to give in to PSG’s request to postpone the Ligue 1 game set to be held on Saturday, April 11. Les Parisiens reached out to the LFP to ask for their away game at Lens’ Stade Bollaert-Delelis be postponed in order to give Luis Enrique’s players a breather between their Champions League quarter-finals tie to Liverpool FC.

Lens have officially condemned their Ligue 1 rivals’ attempt to disrupt the scheduling of Ligue 1 fixtures. The Artois side released a spiky statement on Monday, accusing LFP to make Ligue 1 a “variable adjustment for the European requirements of the few”. But there’s a catch, although Lens will host the fixture, they’ll have no say on the matter as the decision lies with the LFP.

The LFP board will meet on Thursday to decide on the matter. On his LinkedIn account, Oughourlian – who is far from seeing eye-to-eye with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi on the important matters of French football – says he expects the LFP to side with PSG. “Let’s hope for a lively debate at the next LFP board meeting (on Thursday). That would mean that, when it comes to fairness, different ideas can be put forward… though I’m under no illusions!
