Leo Pearlman has urged Sunderland supporters to raise the volume before Chelsea’s visit on the final day, with European qualification still possible after the 3-1 win at Everton.

The non-executive director and Sunderland ’Til I Die executive producer said in a post that Régis Le Bris’ first campaign has been extraordinary, and that Sunderland must beat Chelsea and hope other results fall their way.

Reflecting on the season, he noted that seven months ago, five games into their return, Sunderland were third, and after 30 more matches the impossible no longer feels like fantasy. He called the Everton victory comprehensive and said memories of David Moyes’ spell made it sweeter, adding that this is a genuine shot at European football for the first time in 53 years.

Pearlman praised Le Bris, saying that whether or not he wins Manager of the Season, nobody will have achieved more against expectation. He said it now comes down to Sunday at the Stadium of Light, one more chance to show the players what they have given back.

He recounted being told by someone at Chelsea before the season that Sunderland would likely be battling relegation while Chelsea chased the title, remarking on football’s capacity to surprise.

In a rallying cry, he urged fans to get there early, sing louder than ever and leave nothing in the tank, insisting the team have already given the city something priceless, belief.
