Leonardo Jardim cites Gabigol as he warns Flamengo’s stars they can be dropped

Leonardo Jardim pointed to benching Gabigol at Cruzeiro in favour of Kaio Jorge as he signalled he will not hesitate to leave big names out at Flamengo.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the new head coach said he always puts the club’s structure and interests ahead of any individual and that he will do the same at Flamengo.

He explained he felt Kaio was in better shape than Gabriel at that moment, so Kaio started, while stressing he maintains a good relationship with Gabriel. The comments came at his unveiling on Thursday 05 at Ninho do Urubu.

Jardim began work on Wednesday 04 and led a second training session on Thursday 05 at CT Ninho do Urubu. His immediate focus is the Campeonato Carioca final against Fluminense.

The final is scheduled for 18:00, Brasília time, on Sunday 08 at the Maracanã.
