According to Coluna Do Fla, Flamengo have unveiled Portuguese head coach Leonardo Jardim for the rest of the season, and he has immediately scrapped two rules previously adopted by Filipe Luís.
First, Jardim will oversee a session on days when Flamengo play evening fixtures, designed to activate players’ muscles before kick-off and improve readiness.
He also favours pre-match concentration for home games, so the squad are expected to stay overnight at the Ninho do Urubu on Saturday seven ahead of the clássico with Fluminense.
The Campeonato Carioca final is a single match. The winner on Sunday eight will be crowned state champions, and if the game ends level it will be decided on penalties.
Flamengo face Fluminense at 18:00 Brasília time on Sunday eight at the Maracanã.
