Leverkusen admits its mistake regarding Ten Hag
Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro did not hesitate to call the appointment of Erik ten Hag a mistake.
The Dutchman was named head coach following Xabi Alonso's departure to Real Madrid, but his spell at Leverkusen was extremely brief: he was dismissed after just two Bundesliga matchdays. The club has since appointed Kasper Hjulmand as the new manager. Speaking to Bild, Carro stated:
I would clearly describe this as a mistake on our part. When a mistake is made, you have to react in time. It's frustrating, but it's something normal that we handled professionally.
According to the German press, Leverkusen was reportedly unhappy that Ten Hag tried to recruit players through his own agent and failed to inspire trust with his methods and dressing room management.
