According to BuLi News, Bayer Leverkusen have opened talks with Olympique de Marseille over Argentina defender Facundo Medina as they seek to bolster their back line.

The 27-year-old is regarded as a leading target for this summer, able to play at centre-back and on the left of defence.

He recently featured for Argentina in the World Cup final. Having only just joined Marseille, he has already attracted attention after strong showings for club and country.

His calmness in possession and ability to cover multiple roles are considered an ideal fit for Leverkusen’s approach.

Leverkusen are also tracking KRC Genk full-back Zakaria El Ouahdi as they assess options on the right. No agreement is in place, but he remains a realistic addition if they choose to bring in another full-back before the window shuts.
