Following a meeting earlier today, the LFP’s Board of Directors has confirmed the key dates of the 2025–2026 Ligue 1 McDonald’s season.
The 2025–2026 season will be marked by new international requirements that will affect the organisation of France's domestic competitions. In terms of the start of the season, the FIFA Club World Cup will end on 13th July 2025, while at the end of the season, the FIFA World Cup will require players to be available from 25th May 2026. Finally, the shift in the dates of the March international break will automatically cause a shift in the dates of UEFA's club competitions' last-16 ties and will therefore entail a busy end to the campaign. With this in mind, no alternative match dates will be made available to clubs involved in European competitions from March 2026 onwards, with the exception of one date between Matchdays 33 and 34 of the Ligue 1 McDonald's season.
The 2025–2026 season will get underway on the weekend of the 15th, 16th and 17th August 2025.
One round of fixtures, Matchday 10, will take place in midweek (on Wednesday 29th October 2025).
Matchday 16, which is scheduled for the weekend of 12th, 13th and 14th December 2025, will be the final matchday of 2025.
The season will then resume on Matchday 17, which will take place on the weekend of 2nd, 3rd and 4th January 2026.
The final round of fixtures, Matchday 34, will be played on 16th May 2026.
