Liam Rosenior confirms Enzo Fernandez will miss out again for Chelsea | OneFootball

Liam Rosenior has said he will stand by his sanctioning of Enzo Fernandez, meaning the Argentinian will not feature for Chelsea against Manchester City.

Chelsea’s boss says that although the Argentine midfielder has apologised to the club for comments he made after their Champions League exit in March, he will miss Sunday’s blockbuster fixture.

Fernandez said that he did not know whether he would remain at Stamford Bridge next season.

Rosenior had already said ahead of the game against Port Vale that his star player would miss the next two games as a sanction, stating that he had “crossed a line.”

The manager doubled down on his decision 48 hours before Chelsea’s clash with Manchester City, saying: “You can’t overstep the punishment for the mistake. I made a decision. What I want for Enzo is for him to go on and have an amazing career. He won’t play on Sunday.

“There are certain values and cultures that I believe in that make the club stronger if you get them right.

“I had a really good conversation – three or four with Enzo,” he continued. “He’s apologised to me and to the club, and we’ll deal with that after a massive game on Sunday.

“It’s a serious meeting about something very serious. Enzo, every single step on the way, I’ve not been questioning his character, or who he is as a person. I believe people make mistakes.”
