Chelsea had an international break, then an FA Cup game, then a free week leading into Sunday’s game against Man City. That’s an unusually relaxed setup for Liam Rosenior, who had previously been playing high intensity games twice a week after arriving in January.
In his press conference today previewing Sunday’s clash with Man City, the Chelsea boss confirmed it had been “nice” to have a little bit more time on the training pitch to work on things.
“It’s been nice – it’s been the first week since I’ve been here that we have had two clear training days in a row to work on things. You can’t change too much too soon and that’s something I’ve looked at with the staff,” the manager said.
He also confirmed that the break had given his players the chance to “refresh” a little mentally.
“Yeah, they look really good. The way we went about the game against Port Vale was very good and hopefully that springboards the rest of our run-in.”
Rosenior also spoke about some of his injured players, giving updates on the likes of Levi Colwill and Trevoh Chalobah ahead of the Man City game.
Chelsea are keeping an eye on Angelo Stiller, the Stuttgart midfielder who is starting to attract attention from around Europe.
