Liam Rosenior’s imminent move to Chelsea has taken a decisive step forward after the Strasbourg head coach boarded a flight from Alsace to London on Sunday afternoon, according to a report from L’Équipe. Despite publicly playing down links with the Premier League club following Strasbourg’s 0–0 draw away at Nice on Saturday night, negotiations between Chelsea and Rosenior were significantly more advanced than he suggested. While Rosenior returned to Strasbourg overnight with his squad, he later travelled to London separately, accompanied by Racing Club de Strasbourg president Marc Keller and sporting director David Weir.Speaking after the match in Nice, Rosenior had attempted to dampen speculation over his future. “There is nothing concrete, maybe some interest. Until now, I haven’t discussed anything with Chelsea. I always tell the truth and try never to hide things,” he said. However, sources indicate that Rosenior is now expected in west London in the coming hours, with a contract yet to be formally signed. If finalised swiftly, L’Équipe report that the 41-year-old could take charge of Chelsea as early as Wednesday evening, when the Blues travel to Fulham for a London derby.GFFN | George Boxall
