Liam Rosenior has just taken his post-match press conference, where he was asked about why defender Tosin had been replaced in the second half.

Tosin had been having a good game, using his height to his advantage in fending off Brentford crosses and corners, and it looked like he had picked up a knock.

“He said he felt something in his hamstring,” the new manager said, confirming suspicions about a potential problem.

“I don’t know if it’s serious. He said it felt better afterwards. But at the moment, I’ve got a really, really good bench that I trust and Wes [Fofana] is an outstanding player and I brought him on to help the team.”

Rosenior denies potential Tosin injury could accelerate transfer

As a follow up, Rosenior was then asked whether a potential injury to Tosin could further accelerate a potential defender move this January, with Rennes starlet Jeremy Jacquet seemingly closing in on a move to Stamford Bridge.

The manager rejected that idea immediately:

“No, I don’t think. We have our plans. We have our plans in terms of what we want to do. That won’t make any real difference to our thinking.”

We’ll see about that. Tosin was good today but we still need a quality addition to the back line. One clean sheet doesn’t change that. We expect major movement in the Jacquet direction over the next few days, whether or not Tosin’s issue proves to be serious.

In other news…

Cole Palmer looks very frustrated at the moment, with his body and with his form. Rosenior denied it, but we all knew what we saw today.

One player who did NOT impress was Alejandro Garnacho, who had a great chance to earn a starting spot today but didn’t do nearly enough.
