Liga calendar panel to review FC Porto request over Sporting CP v Tondela postponement on Friday | OneFootball

Liga Portugal said in a statement that it has received a request from FC Porto for clarification over the postponement of Sporting CP v CD Tondela in the 26th round of the I Liga, and that it has already replied.

The league added that its Permanent Calendar Commission will meet on Friday, 20 March to consider the case and seek a solution within the regulations, while balancing scheduling with the success of Portuguese clubs in European competitions.

Sporting CP invoked the rule that requires 72 hours between the start of two matches involving the same club, and asked that the fixture not be scheduled.

FC Porto’s formal request alleges a breach of the rules, pointing to the provision that postponed second-half fixtures must be played within four weeks of the original date.

The match will be set for a new date, which remains to be confirmed and is due to be discussed by the commission on Friday.
