We’ve rounded up the latest round of action in Spain’s top flight.

Bonmatí inspires Barcelona to victory

There was little surprise on Friday evening when reigning champions Barcelona proved too strong for newly-promoted DUX Logroño. Aitana Bonmatí opened the scoring with an inventive finish from Vicky López’s cross, before she quickly added a second with a shot from just outside the box. Ewa Pajor then got in on the act to establish a three-goal lead before the interval.

To Logroño’s credit, they at least battled hard to keep Barcelona to just the one goal in the second period.

Kika Nazareth headed in from close range to score in back-to-back matches, wrapping up a 4-0 win for the hosts.

Atlético Madrid dispatch Levante

Barcelona are sitting top of the Liga F table alongside Atlético Madrid, who pulled off their own 4-0 victory in Sunday’s home meeting with Levante. Amaiur Sarriegi netted the only goal of the first period at the Centro Deportivo Wanda Alcalá de Henares. The former Real Sociedad star let fly from the edge of the box, rifling a fierce strike in off the underside of the crossbar.

Luany doubled Atleti’s advantage inside the first six minutes of the second period. The Brazilian pounced on a bouncing ball, before she calmly slotted past Andrea Tarazona to score in a fourth consecutive game. Chelsea loanee Júlia Bartel then produced a stunning long-range shot to open her account for Atlético. Substitute Andrea Medina applied the finishing touches to the commanding victory with a near-post effort in stoppage time.

Real Madrid end wait for Liga F win

Meanwhile, Atleti’s city neighbours Real Madrid clinched their maiden league win of the season at the third time of asking. All three goals in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Madrid CFF arrived in the first period. Alba Redondo opened the scoring when she powered a header home from Eva Navarro’s inviting cross.

Ángela Sosa pulled the visitors level midway through the half, only for Caroline Weir to restore Real Madrid’s slender lead just past the half-hour mark. The Scotland international drove home a low shot after he collected a loose ball from a corner. Weir’s effort moved Las Blancas onto four points from three matches.

Success for Real Sociedad and Dépor

Real Sociedad are just two points behind the top two following their impressive win over Sevilla. Aiara Agirrezabala nodded in from Arola Aparicio’s cross to net an early opener. Aparicio provided another assist for Lucía Pardo to send a looping header out of Esther Sullastres’s reach.

Bayern Munich loanee Edna Imade was unfortunate not to open her Real Sociedad account. The former Granada striker saw one effort ruled out, before another strike was saved and eventually steered home by substitute Intza Eguiguren.

Elsewhere, Deportivo La Coruña required just one goal to record their first victory of the Liga F season in Sunday’s home meeting with Athletic Club. Ainhoa Marín Martín and Barbara Latorre combined superbly to work the ball from the halfway line and into the box for the former to slide into the awaiting net.

Alhama’s wait for victory continues

Alhama missed the chance to claim their first victory of the season in Saturday’s encounter with Granada. Mariana Díaz Leal opened the scoring with a stunning lob. The forward raced onto a long ball forward, before she calmly lifted the ball over the stranded Chika Hirao. Alhama went into the break in the lead, but their advantage was wiped out in the early stages of the second half.

Laura Pérez pounced on a goalkeeping error to tap in from close range. That proved to be the final goal of the game as both teams settled for a point apiece.

Resolute Badalona continue clean sheet run

Badalona played out their second goalless draw of the season in their away meeting with Eibar. While they had to settle for a point, Badalona will be pleased with the fact that they have started the season with three consecutive clean sheets.

Like Badalona, Costa Adeje Tenerife have collected three points from their opening five matches. Tenerife added a point to their tally with a goalless affair against Espanyol, who have mustered two points from three games.

Best goal of Liga F matchday three

There were a number of standout strikes across the eight fixtures in Liga F. Sarriegi and Bartel both produced eye-catching efforts for Atleti, while Mariana’s effort for Alhama was a thing of beauty.

However, we have to pick Bonmatí’s improvised strike as the best goal of matchday three. López’s cross looked to be behind Bonmatí, but somehow, the two-time Ballon d’Or winner managed to adjust to hit a backheel volley.
