After OM’s 1-2 defeat by Monaco on Sunday, the race for next season’s Champions League has been blown open. With six rounds left, who has the kinder run-in?
With six matchdays remaining, the fight for the podium and its direct Champions League places is entering its decisive phase, the fourth will go through qualifiers. L’Équipe notes that second-placed Lens, on 59 points, face the heaviest schedule, including a Coupe de France semi-final with Toulouse and a rescheduled PSG match three days before the final day at Lyon.
Behind them, Lille in third, Marseille fourth, Monaco fifth, Lyon sixth and Rennes seventh can focus solely on their last six league games. Marseille’s run looks favourable, largely against bottom-half opposition, with Rennes on the final day their toughest test on paper.
Lyon’s route appears trickier, with meetings against direct rivals PSG, Lens and Rennes. Beyond the two Olympiques, Rennes are set to face more manageable opponents such as Nantes, Paris FC and Angers.
