Ligue 1’s best goalscorer Estéban Lepaul extends Rennes contract | OneFootball

Rennes centre-forward Estéban Lepaul (26) has extended his contract with the Bretons, according to Le Parisien. The 26-year-old has taken Ligue 1 by storm last season by rocking to the top of the league’s goalscoring charts, proving more efficient and reliable than Ligue 1’s big guns such as PSG’s Ousmane Dembélé or Marseille’s Mason Greenwood.

Lepaul found the back of the net 21 times, leading Rennes back to European football next season. Les Rouge et Noir finished the season in sixth place, and their spot in the Europa League was confirmed following Lens’ Coupe de France title.

After putting pen to paper on an initial four-year deal last summer, when Rennes signed him from Angers over a €14m transfer fee, Lepaul is now tied until 2030 with Franck Haise’s side. Lepaul was reportedly courted by several European powerhouses, such as Atlético de Madrid and Napoli.
