Lincoln have the huge task of taking on Premier League giants Chelsea in the Carabao Cup tonight but they have a secret weapon.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has been speaking to the media ahead of the game and has mentioned whether he will be playing any academy players in this fixture. His answer was rather coy, but it doesn’t sound too promising to be honest.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea thinking about selling new signing who’s not even arrived yet in favour of another new arrival!!

Not that it will be much hope for Lincoln because Chelsea have players of quality all around their squad and can cover injuries, but they are in a bit of a fitness crisis right now with many players out injured, struggling with knocks, or just struggling with bad fatigue after the international break.

Maresca has been explaining why he believes that they are struggling with fitness so much right now and has admitted that it’s not bit random.

Lincoln City are dreaming of famous cup night tonight as they prepare to welcome Chelsea to the LNER Stadium.

Striker James Collins says they’ll need everything to go their way if they’re to upset the odds against Enzo Maresca’s side.

“I’d imagine they’ll be very good in possession,” Collins admitted. “We’ll have to be really good defensively and then, when we get our opportunity to create a chance, we’ll need to take it. That’s what games like this come down to.”

Fans can be the secret weapon?

Collins also pointed to the impact of the Lincoln supporters, who will pack into the LNER Stadium under the lights.

“The fans have been fantastic, home and away. Especially this year at home – that far-right corner has been really, really noisy. We’re definitely going to need them to help us.”
